I found a good M1008 still with the gasser engine!
What is the common issues on these engines (carb,fuel pump and fuel tank comes to my mind).
Any special places I have to pay extra attention ?
Also what batteries are the correct ones ?
M108 or M1008?
If what you are talking about is the 2-1/2 ton crane truck, go grab it and worry about the common issues later (the list is endless).
These trucks are always worth saving.
Any 6TL size batteries will work.
Where in europe are you? Should You decide not to buy the truck, PM me, I might be interested.

This truck is in completely original unmolested condition it was decomissioned 20 or more years ago and has one owner since then.
He wants for it 6500€ a bit neg...
I am located about 300 km from Italy (3h including stops) and about 500km from Slovenia (Maribor or Bled, both are about the same distance from here).
6500eur is not bad all considered. I guess the gas engine and parts situation scares people off. I see M35A2 multifuelers advertised for 8-13.000 eur here. Most people want the cargo trucks, as they can use them for camping, or put a jeep in the back.
