How about a sticky perhaps?

Was just perusing the classifieds and was dismayed to find two of the recently listed CUCV's incorrectly identified. Errors in the ads not withstanding both had the M series number wrong.

This is a M1008 pickup:

RE: Identifying CUCV

Okay folks, if you have a good shot of your M1009 Blazer, M1028A2 dually, M1031 shop truck, M1010 ambulance, etc please add it here. We obviously have some folks around here that need educating.

Let's try and keep it to one picture of each model and have the trucks as stock looking as possible. Your truck might be cool on 6" of lift and 38's but that's probably not what the military was driving.

More than one M1031

Again, collected from e-bay or elsewhere

Please note, especially for the shop trucks, IIRC from my engineer unit, the model M1031 is actually the chassis, with the shop box tagged as "Shop Equipment, Contact Maintenance, Truck Mounted" or SECMTM.

The "long" box on that contact maintenance truck is actually the body off of a Dodge M887 contact maintenance truck. They were originally equiped with a gas powered welder.

the m1028 has a traction-aid (limited slip) in the front axle, the 1008 does not (open differential)
several of the m1028 models (a1 and a2 i think) also had the np205 gear to gear transfer case, 1008 has the chain driven np208

1028s also have helper springs, higher gvw, 9400 vs 8800 (M1008), although my M1028a1 has 9200 gvw on it. M1028 has NP208, M1028a1 has NP205.
