Thanks for the crickets! An IETM is an Interactive Electronic Technical Manual. Google it like Doghead says...
The P2P is different than the IETM. The IETM will allow you to interactively diagnose while plugged into the vehicle. The IETM requires a MSD (Maintenance Support Device), so with a MSD-ICE "gizmo" (MSD - Internal Combustion Engine) AND the M939 series IETM, it's all electronic diagnosis. The MSD-ICE even has the cable for the ABS and will interactively diagnose that as well. I was thinking of picking up an MSD-ICE setup, but it's pretty much a boat anchor without the IETM. This is the system that replaced the STE/ICE-R.
It even gets more complicated. If you are military, you can access the IETMs online (they are internet based) or you can download them and install them on your notebook MSD (they would be CD-ROM based in this case).
Yes, I realize if you want to do an active military download, you need a CAC. But back to my question. I've found the IETM for the M939 on military lists that DOES NOT list it as restricted. But I have not been able to figure out where to get it. So, if anyone knows where a downloadable version resides or has one, please let me know. I wouldn't ask if I didn't think they were unrestricted. Soooooo, any help out there?
Thanks,
Al Jones
