I'm worried about my Deuce freezing tonight

For the night, I would take the work light suggestion. Maybe cover hood with tarps or blanket to help trap the heat.

Just take an extension cord and a drop light with an incandescent bulb and leave it on under the hood. Should keep it warm enough not to freeze and crack the block.

I forgot I had this thing. It is a magnet heater. 250w. I bought it to use on my skidsteer as it has a Deutz but it did not help alot but it may be enough to give me some added protection tonight.
I have a comfortor over the top of the motor as well as a blanket on the rad.

I know what you mean about water breaks , we used contract repairs for a local township . But I would rather do that than the ride these people took last night . They rear-end a semi on I-75 in a white out and the truck driver didn't know they hit him, up near Camp Grayling and got drug down the highway for 16 miles before police stopped the truck .

42F° below freezing point of water is where one takes care of the humans
then the animals then the machines. It is time to be careful.
Do not go dorkin around outside with machines alone at that temperature.
The worst that can happen is a freeze plug will go, that is what they were put in there for!

Freeze plugs (actually Welch plugs) are for removing the sand after the blocks are cast. They are NOT for freeze prevention.
The deuce takes 6 gallons of anti-freeze to make it good to 50 below zero.

I have many trucks, and we get -30 here in winter. Never had a cracked block. Also never worried about antifreeze too much

Well, she survived the night. The antifreeze I had drained out did not freeze so very doubtful the engine would.
Anyone got a pic of the proper place to tie in the heater hoses ?
I got a circulating engine heater I may install this weekend.

Wind chill "temp" doesn't matter. The truck will only get as cold as the "real" temperature... Wind chill only applies to living things that "make" heat biogically.

OK, on a more serious note:
I'm glad our deuce was prepped and checked before this cold weather arrived. It's 19F here this morning and we're "good to go".

Just for the fun of it, after starting the car to warm up a bit for the drive for the office, I walked over to the deuce and turned on the power, hit the START button and ROAR !!! Even at 19F I never heard the engine "turn over" - she seems to always fire on the very first cylinder's first compression stroke!!!! Good Lord, we have been blessed with a wonderful specimen of these awesome machines ! ! !
