Inexpensive camper/utiliy box for m35a2

I truely appreciate that WARNING !

We just swapped front bumpers with a nearby VFD so they could have a BIG UGLY Brush Guard, and I was about to rattle-can the replacement.

QUESTION:

If painting JUST the front bumper, what kind of electrical & lighting malfunctions should I anticipate?
Will I need replacement bulbs?
Fuses?
Wire Harness?
Brake/Flasher Module?
Ejection Seat and Canopy Explosive Bolts?

Dang Dueces is fickle, ain't they?!?!?!?!?

No No.........I think if you only paint the FRONT bumper, you will get a oil leak on the left side of the engine. Its that or the windshield wipers gives you problems, I can't remember now. Anyway the fix is to paint the bumper and the supports also and it will be just fine.

You forgot!!!! It is imperative that the front of the truck be pointing North when you paint the front bumper or else your starter will fail.

As insurance you should wear some old green army fatigues and have Jimmy Hendricks or Black Sabbath on the radio while the op commences. (If you have an old 8 track even better.)

OK - So far, so good

I've sprayed the ends of the front bumper with the same tan as used on the rest of the camo scheme. Just the recttangular areas for the bumper numbers.

No Electrical or other problems detacted thus far.

BTW, the truck was pointing due north with the steer axle wheels cranked HARD right. I'm thinking that little trick kept Mr. Murphy disoriented.

...Once again proving that 8-Tracks were the "tape players from HE|_|_" - They can hauntingly play even without any 12vdc lifeblood - Kinda like a Zombie Sound System. They DID love to eat tapes, too

To day I installed a new thermostat because the truck never got any hotter than 110. When i started to pull the water outlet i realized the heater hoses were installed so thay made a bypass of the thermostat. So i moved the heater hose to the water pump like it should be. Other than a valve adjustment I'm done with the mechanical stuff.

Next i will start on the inside of the camper.

Today i adjusted the valves on the truck. Had a couple tight ones and a real loose one.

But the most important thing i learned is all science. Starting a 1:30pm every time you climb onto a deuce fender the truck grows at least 6" in height. But for this to happen you have to be a little old and a little fat.

I traded a shotgun for a homelite 5000 watt generator. The carb was a mess. I could not separate the top and the bowel. ended up beating them apart with a hammer. The aluminum corrosion in the bowel looked like cottage cheese and completely filled the carb. It was the worst i have ever seen. But a soak in some acid and a couple of gaskets wamo it fired right up. It should just fit over the spare tire where the pioneer rack is. Also found a nice 15 gal. fuel tank for it. I5 gal might be overkill but it doubles as emergency fuel for the truck. Ill take picks of the installation and post them.

I also added a Jerry can to the right side of the truck. Just hope i don't have to access the battery to often.

I guess the inside of the camper will have to wait a little longer.

This week i finished painting the nose of the truck. Also found a new engine for it as it has developed a knock that gradually is getting louder.

Fixed the leak in fresh water tank.

put beam (2x4) across center of camper and removed collapsed posts.

Cleaned stove and removed hood and spice rack to repaint. Need to patch bottom of the sheet metal spice rack as it has a hole rusted through it.

Need some ideas on an inexpensive grey water tank other than a 5gal bucket. Running out of money and i still have to deal with the propane tanks.

How big of a tank are you looking for? You may be able to use one of those blue plastic drums.

here is an idea for the gap between the cab and the camper you could mount 2 spares on something similar to the 5 ton rack.

You would still keep the storage below that rack. you then could ditch the spare tire carrier and mount another fuel tank there giving 100 gallons of fuel. and you could even keep the bed tank (I dont know how big that is.)

I think 2 spares there would fill that gap nicley and still have some storage. and if you blow a set of duals while the zombies are out you don't need a tire shop untill you blow the third tire.
