If you are making oil, then diesel fuel is leaking past the fuel density compensator. By-pass fuel density compensator.

There are several places that can leak fuel into the engine oil. The fdc if you have one (my truck doesn't). The HH plunger. The HH o rings. The fuel control rod o ring. Also, the booster pump seal can fail.

If you haven't noticed the actual level raising then it probably isn't leaking in. My oil level got 3 or 4 quarts higher than full twice. Once when I first got the truck and I didn't know any better and then after I changed the oil the first time I noticed it. Which prompted me to fix it.
