Several days ago, I had occasion to recover a M 989 Ammo Trailer. I took a "new to me", but also, new looking Inter Vehicle Cable, as well as a light bar, in case things didn't work. I ended up, using the light bar, but the issue was the inter vehicle cable. The trailer lights are perfect. It seems on the female plug end, the little sleeve in there has been pushed back into the housing on the tail light circuit (there is continuity in it), until there is just no connection. Question: Is the plug end repairable? I don't see how it might come apart, if it does? I have a spare 12 footer - the trailer only needs a 6 footer. if the plug is not repairable, that is a lot of cable to throw away. Has anybody found a way to repair these? Direction would be much appreciated! Thanks

It is possible. If it has the hose clamp on the end, loosen it and push the cable out the end of the plug. Hard to explain but it would go like this if your right handed, loosen the clamp then hold the plug in your left hand with the cable in yourright hand, now push you hands together. It will take some work, you can take a small flat blade screwdriver and work it around while squirting some silicon lube in and around the cable.

I've taken these cables apart on several occasions and the contacts can be reseated using the proper insertion tools. I have them if you'd like to borrow them to repair your cable. Drop me a PM with a mailing address.

I have repaired many without special tools. Can you post a pic so I can tell which pics to post for you? I have one apart in the basement right now.
