Installed new Copper/Brass Radiator in M1008A1

Thought I would start a new thread on this since a lot of guys are always looking for a good replacement copper/brass radiator.

Old one went out a while ago and wasn't able to be fixed
Ordered this new one and it arrived today at the radiator shop I use.
Large 3 core and EXACTLY like the old one. (Military had replaced the original GM one who knows when).
Was pristine out of the box. No scratches, etc.

Also installed 4 new rubber supports.
This new one fit like a glove and no issues.
Everything bolted right back up with ease.

I also installed a new correct Gates thermostat and NOS GM thermostat housing.

Tighten everthing up, filled with fresh 50/50 antifreeze and started truck.
No leaks.

It was pricey, but I wanted a copper/brass and as original as I could get and this was it!!

Price was $457 out the door. Worth every penny.
This was through the radiator shop so I don't know if it can be found cheaper online.

No pictures. They are not view-able. Not sure what is wrong. I think worth every penny is a bit premature. Maybe that statement can be added when it lasts a long while. Like 30 years. My one truck still has the OEM radiator in it and keeps on going. Glad you got what you wanted. Have a great day. I bought an OEM GM radiator for my CUCV M1028 in 2005 it was $650. So the one you bought was a bargain 12 years later.

It was exactly what I wanted.
It fit perfect
No issues whatsoever with the cooler lines

To me.....that is worth every penny.

Did you save the old radiator? It looks like it could be repaired / re-cored. Do you know a good radiator shop in your area?

Yes and yes.

He and I were both hoping it could be fixed.
Unfortunately, something was cracked (forgot what he called it) and he said it was a death sentence for this type radiator.
Showed me the spot and it was definitely there.

The owner is a military vehicle fan and was extremely knowledgeable as to the different radiators they require.
I won't be scrapping the old radiator anytime soon.

Looking it up today the price has gone up significantly at the only store I found with one available. Still an option for the original radiator.

That’s not a copper/brass one.

A local radiator shop has better contact resources for the good stuff.
Auto parts stores just want volume.
