Installing Starters - Hip Tip

When you don't have a lift, the starters can be a bear. For a skinny ten lb weakling like myself, I used a floor jack and a block of wood to hold it up while I positioned the front horizontal bolt into the carrier before screwing in the other two. Before that, I had tried unsuccessfully to put in one bolt and then get the horizontal bolt in the carrier. Nope. No worky.

Hope this helps. I've gotten so much out of this forum that the only thing I can probably do is add stuff like this when I experience it.

Thanks for the experience tip. Personally, I used a second helper to start the bolts while I bench-pressed the started up into place. Was not a fun time that I have any interest in re-living (we had to do it twice-shim was installed wrong the first time), but it got done.

My helper is just as feeble as I am! Instead, I traded a bout of crazy bad bursitis in my elbow for doing it myself. Totally dumb move. My elbow has been swollen for two weeks. (I have the strength but not the bursa sacks to support it.)
