Just read the article and that kind of legislation is insanely stupid. But I regrettably think we are fighting someone of the same kind of battles here across the pond. Our army mechs are attending training at Scania, MAN etc to certify on their vehicles so that they can fix them INOP. So we can fix them in theather, getting the parts however is another deal entirely. We are forced to use strict procurement contracts stating that we have to get x part from y provider, regardless of the fact that provider z has the exact same part for half the price, or can get us the part now, instead of tomorrow.

just read the article its spot on, I had 2 active duty 91bs working for me that twice put atf in a duce transmission because they didn't know what gl 90 was. when asked if they had ever preformed an annual service I was told no that they had contractors that did it for them. when we worked in the motor pool it was all part of our training the motor seargent even kept job books on every one.
