We have all read the Katrina story posted by our S/S brother with his deuce, and the selfless effort he made to help many in need.

If there is a need in my area of Northern Michigan I stand firm at the ready to help in any emergency.

Parade duty is commendable, helping your fellow man is PRICELESS..!

Never have been able to understand that... Something as simple as minding your own business should be pretty easy. Code Enforcement though - they think they are special. And nosy neighbors - I don't have much use for them either...

Here in the Great State of Mecklenburg (Charlotte, NC) we have plenty of Code Enforcement folks. They carry badges and even have the power to arrest. I notice they don't carry weapons though so I am not sure how much enforcing they do before it goes bad for them. My dad had a patch of dirt with a house on it. They determined it wasn't up to code and needed to be inspected. (It was in pretty sad shape) The Code Enforcement guy met me there. Proclaimed he had the right to crawl around under the house to inspect it... Not the brightest bulb in the string... That could have been his last inspection - had it been somebody other than me.

I hear ya, sounds like your HOA is like most others, your not alone.

This thread is a year old now but it's time it got updated...

So I posted a little while ago I bought a deuce back in June. In May my old lady and I bought a new house in a new construction area but no HOA. I have this lady across the street from me and she always complains that my truck is too loud. My neighbor next to me turned out to be a fellow high school acquaintance and now we are good friends. His wife talks to this lady all the time. That's how I found out she is complaining, she tells everyone else but me, lol. However, I later found out she complains about everybody and everything. Usually I granny shift the deuce on my street to keep the noise down out of respect for my neighbors, but every morning when I leave for work at 4:30am, I make sure I hit at least 2500 rpm in first gear just for her when I leave going past her house. Nothing she can do, but acting shady the way she does, I make sure she hears it every morning, lol. She's called the cops on me once, the cop was so into the truck, we shot the poo for almost a half hour! He then informed her since it's there are no restrictions or codes in the township for loud vehicles and the fact it's for work and not play time, there's nothing to enforce. So she sits in her house mad af every morning thanks to me and it makes my day knowing that.

I made a point of being SURE that there was no HOA when I bought my house. Not that I mind people wanting to band together - but I figure I bought it - and it is my patch of dirt. Me and the government... So long as I pay my taxes I get to continue living there.

But a grumpy neighbor, heck you are being good. Real good. I would have a day or two where the exhaust would have a malfunction that allowed the muffler to be bypassed. Then one of those infernal backup beepers. As loud as humanly possible - and maybe leave it in reverse with the brakes set and walk back inside for a quick cup of coffee. Maybe a super bright set of lights as you slip out of the driveway. Just once or twice. Yeah, if she wants to play games I would gladly help move that up to the next level. Accidentally on purpose of course.

Not sure as a comunity that is constantly under threat of loosing our freedom of buying, or driving our former MV’s on public roads that we want to get caught up in participating in this kind of childish behavior…

Lmao, I've thought about upping the game a little bit, but I do this 4-5 days a week, and sometimes I do back up in my driveway so when I pull out to leave, my headlights shine through their windows and I know her bedroom is on that side of the house. I may have accidently left my brights on a time or two

Generally speaking, I am a really good neighbor. Most times, I will be looking out for my neighbors. Seeing odd people milling around the neighbors house or somebody that I know for sure doesn't belong in the back yard - I will be that nosy neighbor. I will investigate and I will solve that sort of problem.

On the other hand, when a person like ToddJK described starts interfering in my personal space, I might not be as helpful. And yeah, a 60 year old child has been known to be a jerk from time to time.
