Issues with SF-97

PM the name of the CSR that sent this to you so that I can ensure this confusion does not continue.

I briefed the Customer Care Manager last week that it will take approximately 3-5 weeks to work through the backlog that not having the blank forms for the last 3 months has created, provided that the 2 orders of blanks that the GSA has promised will be delivered are received.

We were able to find, borrow, and beg approximately 1,100 forms to bridge the gap between now and the expected delivery date of the actual forms we ordered. Since we received these, we have processed close to 600 forms in less than 2 weeks.

The process of printing these is not a quick one. Once we print the forms we have to send them to DLA for signature. Once they are signed by DLA they are then sent back to us where we finalize the process, i.e. print reassignment letters, scan and log them, determine which ones are SF97 only and which ones will be sent to our title service to be turned into tites, and then prep them for pickup by FEDEX or USPS. Depending on when your SF97 is printed, you can expect to receive it within 10 days from the print date, not 3-5 weeks from the print date. For titles it will take additional time depending on whether it is a Montana title (4-6 weeks) or Florida Title (2-4 weeks).

As far as why are we paying FedEx and USPS, not sure how else we would be able to send them to you....
Will we be notified when our SF97s are sent for title processing? I have five SF97s in the queue for title and two SF97s to be provided as is.
Thanks,
Johnny

Negative, the only time the automated email goes out is when we input the FedEx/USPS tracking number into the system and select sent to buyer. You can PM your item numbers and I can give you an update on them to let you know where in the process they are though.

Hi PHasty,

Do you any updates on SF97's now that they are being sent out? Maybe something similar to the EUC info you helped us with what batches your team was working on? We appreciate your help.

I will see if I can figure out something, it is a little different than the EUCs. The EUCs are on a set schedule as far as when we send them to the TSC and when they notify us of approvals, so I can report consistent numbers. The SF97s are not as predictable because it depends on EUC approval dates, pickup dates, and request dates which makes it hard to predict where in the queue something is. Based on the tracker it looks like the the items that were picked up around the end of July/1st week of August are the majority of the ones they are printing now.

Here are this week's numbers:

TSC approved a total of 53. The TSC person that took over the USMC EUCs is killing it, he approved another 20 this week.

6/14: 1
7/5: 2
8/1: 57
8/8: 40
8/15: 46
8/22: 67
8/29: 59

I switched it up since there are a 3 that are extremely overdue. If you feel you are one of those 3 please PM. Thanks!

Paid the fee for an SF-97 and have been waiting since 6/21. This is crazy. If I haven't received any emails what's the chance to just get a refund and move on?

I bid on my m998 in June, picked it up at the end of August in Columbus, OH. I called Iron planet on 10/9/17 to check on the SF-97 and apparently "they ran out of the blue paper the SF-97 is printed on, they just received 500 pieces of paper last week and sent the SF-97's out and now an additional waiting period of 8-10 weeks for 3000 more pieces of paper to be printed on." Anyone else having this issue? Did the gov't not have the paper or is it iron planet? I never asked that question nor could they tell if I was one of the lucky 500, as "it's going in order that they are sold" was all the guy on the phone knew... At least I have possession of it and can idle it occasionally...

WTH? 53? I love the federal government and their efficient handling of all paperwork.
Try buying a suppressor or other class III firearm sometime. Can you wait a year after plunking down, say, $25k for a late model Thompson SMG?

NB

(and, yeah, I got your sarcasm, just illustrating there are far worse hobbies wrt paperwork/entrenched socialist bureaucracies).
