Jackstands?

Does anybody use 6x6 or 8x8 wood blocks for supporting there trucks while working on them?
search said use 2 5-6 ton stands, just wondering!!

I saw something interesting along these lines I wanted to pass along. It was not really easily adjustable, but did look to be awfully strong and low cost. Along the lines of a log cabin made from 2x4's. Check under front of the 1/2 M923A2 I picked up for my trailer project:

I use comercial vehicle jack stands after Iv'e hoisted the truck to the required hieght with my fork lift. I the fork truck in situe for safety and the tynes are also then suported with lorry stands.

I use a set of 12 ton jack stands from harbor freight, they seem to work good.

I use RR cross-ties cut into 2' and 3' lengths.

Wait for a HF sale and stock up on a couple /three sets. They are stout and work well. Cribbing is used for long down time jobs.

I use the harbor frieght 12 ton ones and welded in solid base on the bottom so then don't sink.

I have a couple 6 ton stands for some work. Some custom made ones for other, (easy way to install air assist!).

you could weld the base of the harbor freight 12 tons to some old rims to get extra height and it would have a more stable base for dirt and gravel then too.

I have heavy duty jack stands but ALWAYS used cribbing blocks 6x6 on heavy vehicles (2 1/2, 5 tons, farm tractors, dozers. Blocks are more forgiving and less likely to tip over when wrenching hard.

Blocks are a good idea. I usually skip that step when using these jackstands as I leave the truck hooked to the bridge crane.

i welded up some scrap into some makeshift stands.. before yall go on about them failing... ive had a single set holding up the front on my m54 for the last year and 1/2 after i pulled the front axle and sprins for my bobbed m52... still holding.. and thats through some hellaious pueblo west winds, snow storms, monsoonish rains, and me crawling on, over, and through the truck pulling parts as needed..
