Hey longhunter

On the SS site there is some pictures of my 1944 GPW Ford 1/4 ton. It is done to a Canadian WW 11 unit, The 5th.Canadian Armoured Division and attached to an Infantry Regiment which is still here and active. I served with this unit in the Reserve Forces. Have taken it to there parades and drove the Honoury Colonel, as he was a WW 11 Veteran.
I can not imagine me ever not having this jeep.

I like all military vehicles, including the M38's. I think they are better than the MB's and GPW"s in that they have a stronger transmission, 24 volt electricals, taller tires to help with the lower gears and lower trans cross member also I think marine corps models had limited slip diffs. I just got my first MB and it has the T 90 trans and the taller windshield of the m38. I think I'll keep them both. I have aquired an m38 trans cross member and fabricated some prackets to attach the cross member to the jeep without drilling any new holes. Now I can repair the floor pan where it has been cut and bent to clear the taller trans. George

Hey Longhunter

SS newby, but old time M38-A1 runner. Love it, going on 25 years now. Haven't had it out in a while due to working on the 211 and the 37. Manifold gaskets on both blew out within weeks of each other. Maintenance is never ending, but they all run. I guess that's why it's called a hobby.

Hi Guys
I just bought a 1952, M-38. It is a older (10yrs?) restro but the body is so clean and straight that for awhile I thought it was a repro but since have been convinced otherwise. She even has working radio. She'll be the easiest restro for me yet....when ever I get a chance to do it that is <img src="emoticons/icon_smile_disapprove.gif" alt="Disapprove">

Todd....Boy am I embarrased for not seeing your mail to me,.... Sorry....
The radio assy is a 19 set for Canadian/British vehicles probally yours will take the US one which went on the dr. side rear mount. Seeing yours in restoration reminds me of doing mine.
Good luck

I love my M38CDN!!!...I got it last year about this time and stored it in my 45' van trailer over the winter. I got it out this spring, did a few things to it to get it running after sitting for 17 yrs., threw a slow moving vehicle sign on it, called my buddy who has a 1951 M38, and we went wheelin' on some ATV trails!!...it was a blast!

Long Hunter7,
Been away for awhile from SS, back now and I guess that the M-38 is somthing new..Have a 1950 M-38..In th eprocess of changing out my gas tank..Is really corroded on the inside, small particles were getting by the filters, tank was to far gone to have the inside redone. Bought a new one, also replacing the intank filter..just primed it yesterday.
