I am honored to coordinate the Military Vehicle participation with the American Veterans Traveling Tribute, sponsored by the Wurtsmith Air Museum & the Oscoda Legion Riders.
This incredible event will start on Wednesday July 22nd @ 1500 hrs with the escort of the AVTT truck & trailer from GatewayPark in Tawas City to the Air Museum in Oscoda (about 21 miles). The Police lead escort will start with hundreds of motorcycles and be followed by Historic Military Vehicles.
Thursday July 23rd volunteers will assemble the 360 foot long replica wall on site. Followed by the opening ceremony with keynote speaker Colonal J. Andrew Roberts, commander, Air National Guard-Alpena at 1800 hrs. the display will then be open 24 hours a day through Sunday July 26th.
Many other things are in the works for this weekend, including the 126th Michigan Army National Guard Band will play a FREE concert on July 24, 2015 at 6pm
This event is partnered with http://www.vietnamwar50th.com/
Advance registration to display at this event is not required, it would be extremely helpful to the organizers if you do register. If participating in the escort convoy, please let Bob Hansen know so that an appropriate sized staging area can be arranged.
Military Vehicle owners & Living Historians may camp within their vehicles / displays on site. Will have a nearby area available for civilian tents campers in addition to the vast number of resorts, campgrounds & hotels in the area. As this event is open 24 hours a day, volunteers are needed to staff the display.
