Just Repainted the M931 but the Gillespie is to shiny

I just got done repainting the M931 over the weekend and have some questions for people who have used the Gillespie. The paint seems very inconsistent with shinny and flat all over. also in a lot of areas and the carc tan is glossy. We shot the truck using gallons thinned with industrial coating thinner ( xylene substitute in California). Is there anything I could be doing wrong? I expected the truck to have a little more shine with that paint but not as inconsistent as it is. And the tan looks like high gloss. Does this paint take some time to flatten out and become consistent?

Thanks
Ryan

Gillespie is pretty glossy at first, then flattens out as it cures.

We put the paint on a paint shaker and it seemed well mixed. I was expecting a little more gloss but not the inconsistent finish I got. Some of the paint looks great and some has more gloss in it.

How long does it take to fully cure and for the finish to quit changing. Is maybe my problem just heave areas that will flatten out in a week or two?

Thanks

My experience was with xylene--not familiar with your substitute solvent. (Leave it to Kommiefornia to outlaw something that works well and is cheap:x)
As stated above, the Gillispie tends to be shiny at first, then "settles down) with time.

The splotchy, ---Don't know? If it was painted out in the sun (NEVER DO THAT--NEVER!) that may be part of it or not thoroughly mixing the paint before and after it was thinned.

The true CARC is a very rough finish (just the way it is) compared to the "smooth" texture of the Gillispie (just the way it is).

The cab and clip on my M35 looks spot on next to the CARC bed. Painted in 2008. See avatar pic (taken fall of2008).
Hope this helps, Jim

Oh, and I'll add that maybe the shiny places just simply ended up with a little more paint and they will just take a little more time to dry.
