Left Inner Cowl Insulation Installation

Installing insulation and retainer on an M998 with none. TM 9-2320-280-20-3 Section 10-31 is a great guide. That said the installation refers to this piece being in two sections vs one piece (12446852). Is this piece supposed to be cut along the parting line or is the installation process wrong and everything has to be disconnected to place the one piece seal?

That’s made to go on first...also, they. I longer use that piece in production, it was only early trucks

What do you use?
I take it the later silver style underbody insulation is referenced in a new parts manual/service manual?

Correct...even during reset, that piece of rubber was discarded

Interesting that my ‘89 M998 had zero insulation other than the doghouse and interior mats. I.e. no underbody insulation whatsoever.

why would it? Under body insulation is on newer trucks, not m998’s or A2’s.
