Not safe indeed, I would not do that again. You may damage one, or all three of your batteries. You may also damage yourself!

Another way to prevent the problem is to blow down your air tanks, after use (as you should), then if the switch is on the low air buzzer will let you know.

DrGreg, You beat me to it, this was the first thing I thought of. I do this for the same reason.

Has anyybody think of hydrostaic lock on this ? Leave switch on, electrtic transfer pump fills one cylinder in engine up with fuel, especially if fuel shut of valve leaks, crank engine over and break piston or rod in that cylinder when fuel does not compress between piston and head. And you thoughy alternators were hard to change out . .

Standard starting procedure calls for a short spin of the engine with the fuel shutoff pullled out before actually attempting to start the engine.

This was the topic of a couple of a couple of threads in the forum, and also a PS magazine article in the resources part of the site. By turning the engine over in this manner you find out quickly if you have hydrostatic lock.

How could this happen with fuel ? It's not going to push through the injector pump and do this.
