With the IP shipped off for rebuild, I have been concentrating on cleaning up the rusty engine valley. In a perfect world, I would completely strip it of all rust, then have it primed and properly painted. However, wiring and fuel lines are impeding my progress to the point where to prime and paint would only be putting lipstick on a pig. I have found a product, WD-40 Specialist Gel, which may be another option for a rusty unpainted surface. Time between applications ranges from 1-2 years and max temp is up to 500° F. It's also safe on multiple surfaces including metals, plastic and rubber.
Has anyone had experience with this WD product or a high temp rust transformer/primer/paint?
Thank you in advance,
