Howdy,
I have most of the accessories for my PU-798A (Mep-803a on a LTT-HC high mobility)
Genset accessories.jpg
Pictured;
slide hammer
slide rod driver/puller rod, with rod knuckle
ground rod clamps
remote 55gal/5gal fuel pickup adapter
aux fuel supply line
6awg braided copper ground
carbon dioxide fire extinguisher
and 3 ground rod pieces up under the side of the generator

I am missing the ground rod connection buckles. I only have 1. And some 8 pound hammer.

Is there anything else?

One thing that I have in my kit, that is non-issue, is a couple of clamps, in case there is something that is acceptable to ground to (other then driving that ground rod. One is a spring clamp, as from a battery jumper cable, and the other is a 4" C-clamp.

My first question would be how are you planning on using your generator? Is it house hook-up for back up power only? Do you want it to be available for mobile power situations, or...?

To make it more functional you might consider adding a spider box, extension cords etc. if you ever plan to use it in a remote situation (job site, relatives/friends house, around the compound, etc.)

Howdy,
I was not so much as asking what else I should carry. I was looking at items which were issued at the time the generator was delivered. From information I can find, I am missing a 8lb hammer. I also need to find 3 more ground rod connection knuckles.

I myself have these add-ons nearby for support;
fuel filter (canister)
fuel filter (spin-on)
oil (plenty on hand for changes)
oil filter

various ground clamps (pair of vice-grips)
regular 8ft ground rods
regular t-post driver
bulk farm diesel tank
109gal transfer tank
15gal poly barrel tank
5 gal fuel can
breakout box (small distribution box)

The list of Associated Support Items of Equipment (ASIOE), Basic Issue Item (BII) and Additional Authorized Equipment (AAI) is listed in the appendix section of the operators manual (-10 manual). Just have to download the manual---and that would also be part of the BII.

But, you will only find the right listing with the right operators manual. And for the PU-798A, that would be: TM 9-6115-660-13&P

Didn't know if I should start a new thread but I will ask here first to see what people know.
I have purchased several MEP units. All on trailers. From Gov Planet ( even Gov liquidators). The question is what happens to all the accessories that were on the MEP trailers when they were turned in to DRMO (Defense Re utilization Marketing Office). Only one MEP had part of a ground rod system. All the manuals, maintenance sheets and material is gone. Like the ground rods, transfer hose etc.
I suspect that one of three places they are removed- 1. at the military depot that is sending to DRMO, 2. The transporter between bases and or Govplanet sites, 3. Govplanet it self. Not to accuse anyone but just intersted in getting my MEPs supplied with an original setup.
If some one out there as a guess and does not want to post here message me and I will not repeat the findings. If its not a big deal post it here. Thanks just curious.

If you're in need of accessory parts for your trailered generator, send me a PM with what you are looking for.
I have brand new ground rod sets, fuel hoses ( still coiled up) , pullers and drivers, ground clamps. and you wouldn't believe how many sledge hammers and rod pullers I've sent to the scrap yard over the years!

Its VERY rare to find a PP or PU with compleat BII. Its all expendable, and most units rarely use most of it. When something goes into the DRMO, it goes in as a Whole. Things are not stripped off, unless someone is maybe helping a Unit get things it needs. But on the whole, its just not allowed.

After all, the system was not just created to "get rid of old junk", it is first and foremost supposed to Reutilize goods and equipment. Everything that's turned in, sits for 90 days in the DRMO. The items are entered into a world wide data base, and any government agency can request that item. Anyplace in the world. And it will be shipped to the nearest DRMO to the requesting agency. The requesting agency then can pick it up at no cost. I do not know how it works for anyone but the Army. We had to put any reportable item, (Truck, trailer, gen set, tools, test equipment and so on) on the property books. Keeps the theft down. But expendable items were more or less "In the wind". Often, when a unit receives new equipment, and some or all of the BII is missing. So if the BII is on the old equipment, naturally its removed and installed on the new equipment. As a good NCO and later CWO, there was no way I would have turned in BII unless someone pointed a pistol at me. Its better to have and not need, than need and not have. What happens after its sent out of DRMO is something I can not comment on.
