Ah...so someone tried the "with front driveshaft removed" experiment! I wondered what would happen. You probably have to select Off-Road Mode to be able to drive it with the front driveshaft removed, as the same problem happens when you have to drive an NP218 equipped HMMWV with the front driveshaft out (at least the one I had to do it on here) and when you drive the Dodge M880 under the same conditions (again - my own singular personal experience with them anyway.) If you have time and want to try that - please post the results.

I do have a few complete front axles hub to hub, if anybody needs any in the future, along with many other parts. I bought all the BAE's left over FMTV parts.

The question is, would I sit under truck for 30 minutes in the rain at the nearest parking lot outside the truck storage location and do a thorough inspection or roll the dice, ($600)?

$30 worth of oil and some wet clothes...

No criticism here, just happy to learn for your experience(strengthens my commitment to be thorough).

I know I know . Have you ever been to ATL truck center ? Moreland Avenue. Not a nice place to stop your vehicle.
I used to work in Decatur. I got on and off I-20 on Moreland or Maynard all the time. I had some thugs try to carjack me once. Then I had a group approach me at the gas pump thinking I was an easy mark. Thankfully I managed out of both situations unharmed.

I'm glad I don't have to frequent those areas anymore.
