Have you looked in the TM for the trailer mounted unit? I seem to recall a drawing in there that had some dimensions on it. It is for measuring the MEP to mount on the trailer to get the CG correct.

This is one of the reasons I keep telling people to learn what the -24P TM really has for information.

Figure 21, Item 17 SMR Code: XDFZZ CAGE: 30554 Part Number: 88-22010 .SKID BASE ASSEMBLY

Lets take it from the start.
Figure. The exploded picture that shows the part or parts you want.

Item. The Item number is THE PART YOU WANT.

SMR Code. If you go back to Section 1. Introduction, there is an explanation of what the SMR code means. SMR stands for Source, Maintenance and Recoverability code. The first two letters of the SMR code are the Source code. Really the only thing important to civilians.

(1) Source Code. The source code tells you how to get an item needed for maintenance, repair, or overhaul of an end item/equipment. Explanations of source codes follows:Source Code Explanation PA,PB,PC,PD,PE,PF,PG,KD,KF,KB, Stocked items; use the applicable NSN to request/requisition items with these source codes. They are authorized to the category indicated by the code entered in the 3rd position of the SMR code.“NOTE: Items coded PC are subject to deterioration.Items with these codes are not to be requested/requisitioned individually. They are part of a kit which is authorized to the maintenance category indicated in the 3rd position of the SMR code. The complete kit must be requisitioned and applied.MO - (Made at Unit/AVUM Level)MF - (Made at DS/AVUM Level)MH - (Made at GS Level)ML- (Made at Specialized Repair Activity (SRA))MD - (Made at Depot)AO - (Assembled by Unit/AVUM Level)AF- (Assembled by DS/AVIM Level)AH - (Assembled by GS Category)AL - (Assembled by SRA)AD - (Assembled by Depot)Items with these codes are not to be requested/requisitioned individually. They must be made from bulk material which is identified by the part number in the DESCRIPTION and USABLE ON CODE (UOC) column and listed in the Bulk Material group of the repair parts list in this RPSTL If the item is authorized to you by the 3rd position code of the SMR code, but the source code indicates it s made at a higher level, order the item from the higher level of maintenance.Items with these codes are not to be requested/ requisitioned individually. The parts that make up the assembled item must be requisitioned or fabricated and assembled at the level of maintenance indicated by the source code. If the 3rd position code of the SMR code authorizes you to replace the item, but thesource code indicates the items are assembled at a higher level, order the item from the higher level of maintenance.XA - Do not requisition "XA-coded item. Order its next higher assembly. (Refer to the NOTE below.)XB - If an "XB" item is not available from salvage, order it using the CAGEC and part number given.XC - Installation drawing, diagram, instruction sheet, field service drawing, that is identified manufacturer's part number.XD - Item is not stocked. Order an "XD"-coded item through normal supply channels using the CAGEC and part number given, if no NSN is available.NOTE Cannibalization or controlled exchange, when authorized, may be used as a source of supply for items with the above source codes, except for those source coded"XAN or those aircraft support items restricted by requirements of AR 750-1.

What the Source code XD means is that the military does not stock the item. You can not get it, by any other means then cannibalization, OR by using a special requisition, DD-Form 1348-6. As the item is not stocked, the Item manager will ignore your requests, until X number of requestions come in and alert the Item manager to a bigger problem than just PFC Schmidlap in Outer mongolia needing a gen set skid. So when you see this Source Code, forget there being a part someplace for you to get, or find or get info on. It simply doesn't exist. In real life, when PFC Schmidlap needs a skid, the CECOM will tell him to turn in the gen set, and order another. The turn in will go to a maintenance facility to be used as spare parts. Or a skid will come from a gen set so unservable, only parts like the skid can be used. That's the reason you can not find a NSN, nor any info concerning the skid. You could go to CECOM and ask them for the drawing. Its not secret, and I even had one 10 years ago. but not now.

Diesel Addict,

I went to to a manual for a PU and PP gen set, (Power Unit and Power Plant) to look for measurements. The only measurements are for Center Of Balance, and are in relation to the gen set and trailer. So they provide no help.

CAGE CODE: 30554. The CAGE tells you who made the part. 30554 is the code for Department of Defence, Mobile Electric Power. That tells you the part is not made by a company. Had it been 38151, for instance, it would be the code for Marathon Electric Manufacturing. And you could ask them for information.

Whenever you look for a part in the internet, and type in the CAGE CODE before the part number or NSN, (30554-88-22010) you will probably not get a hit. Always use just the part number, or better yet the NSN. In this case, there is no NSN, as its a non stocked part. No need to issue an NSN for a part the military does not intend to stock or reorder.

Sandmanxx,
Just what info are you looking for?
