Stacked, packed and ready to hit the road this morning for the 561 recovery.

Papabear I've got your 4 Cambro food containers and 2 drink containers. We should be in Columbus tomorrow morning but won't know the time until we get a bit closer.

The tires/rims are waiting on pallets. We can air them all up and hope they last for the recovery...I think they will but please don't expect too much. I was gonna put them on the DUKW as it won't be driven much but decided to just use regular deuce rims/tires for now on it.

Just north of Mobile, AL and stopped for the night (well morning as its 12:30 am local). Will head into Columbus after the sun rises.

AMGeneral the site manager confirmed the Crossnore Goat is the green one so we should be good to go.

I appreciate the hospitality at Papabears. We had a great time looking around the Camo Compound and wished we had a couple hours to look everything over but the journey has to continue. Fortunately, so far, Murphy appears to be on vacation. But it is early.

Great progress reports.

Understood, the M62A1 is prepped and awaiting tomorrow as well as the Dodge and gooseneck,I'll be at the Forestry Service yard around 0845/0900.

I already have a plan in mind for loading the other goat on the gooseneck.

Well,2 Goats recovered,no problems that I am aware of,

The day for me started at 0900,with me arriving at the Forestry Service yard with the M62A1,Mark,Andy and Joel(?) had arrived a few minutes prior.

After introductions,we set out airing up tires and inspecting the Morganton Goat, after 20 minutes or so with the M62A1,I had all the tires aired up while Mark,Joel and Andy replaced the 2 batteries,a few minutes later the 3-53 roared to life and pulled out of the bay awaiting loading on the trailer.

We decided to transfer the extra 6 Goat tires to the pickup bed, then loaded the Goat on the trailer, after strapping it down,Mark and party headed out for the journey back to Texas around 1100 EST.

I proceeded home, finished loading the Dodge and trailer, then left about 12 noon for Crossnore and Goat #2.

I arrived at about 1 PM,installed the missing front wheel, aired up the tires, and loaded the other Goat on the gooseneck(sorry,no pics of the loading operations there).

I arrived home with Goat #2 around 3:30 without incident.

Rory was the 3rd member of the crew. Joel is just the name he uses with Waffle House waitresses.

Glad to hear AMGeneral got his recovered as well. No pics from our trip until I get home to a real computer. Goat looks great and it started with no issues. Brakes are non-existent and the steering is to the point that turning was almost impossible so I've got a couple of issues to work on before the cosmetics.

Thanks again to Papabear and AMGeneral for all the help. NThis group is one big family I just havent met all the cousins yet.

I love it when a plan comes together and some good troops get a break!:-D (Even if it's with a Gamma Goat).

Personally, I think the Gamma Goat was designed by demons and built to satan's standards...BUT!! They they would go nearly anywhere and only required 10 hours of maintenance for every hour used!!
Of course...that's just my personal experience...your mileage may vary.

Oh...and make sure you ask Doghead how to properly whack yourself in the head with a hammer while trying to service the hubs/brakes.:doghead:
