Loss of power going up hill

My 1028 CUCV has always run strong for a 6.2 . However lately I've noticed a gradual loss of power going up steep grades . I've installed new injectors and changed my spin on stanadyne fuel filter. Runs great on the flat but dogs out on a grade. Motor was a replacement in ' 09 at Fort Sill. I think maybe pickup tube fuel sock clogged and I need a tank clean out , or maybe IP is going out. No leaks from IP and minimal white smoke on startup. Any suggestions from knowledgeable SS brethren ? Thanks!

It's only 150 HP, any hill slows it down (at least it does mine). Has it always ran this way? White smoke is unburned fuel. If a glow plug is out you might get that at start up.

Nope, always had good power uphill . I've got a Ram Turbo Diesel so I have experienced real diesel power. This 6.2 had spunk, now it is a dog on a grade.

Short of an engine integrity test with a compression reading, it sounds like your IP is dying or you have a restriction in the fuel system.

How is the condition of the trans?

Trans is fresh rebuilt.

Fast nova: are you thinking maybe the stator bearing in the TC is failing?

I was thinking that the trans might not be downshifting.

Look for the big manual override lever near the helm
