Loss of power. White smoke.

If it is unburnt diesel, it will have a very distinct burning "paint thinner / diesel" smell. Loss of power on acceleration could be bad fuel delivery to the injection pump. Any chance you got some bad diesel?

Whatever it was, it is no longer an issue. (And that fact alone rules out a bunch of stuff.)

I drove the M998 today. Started on the first revolution. Ran fine. No white smoke. The usual amount of power I expect from the gutless turd of a 6.2. I drove it far enough that the cooling fan was kicking on and off as it should. Shut it down at destination. Restarted fine at about 170*.

I filled it up, treated it with Power Service and biocide.

The Heisenbug has disappeared. I'll take it.
