Trying to find a nice motor mount setup to stick the LQ9 into my m1123. What’s out there? Looks like Mountain Machine makes a nice setup but it’s $650. Is there a purpose built mount out there?

You could try using a LS to SBC adapter plate mounted to the factory diesel engine mounts. I believe the 6.2 and 6.5 have the same three mounting hole position as a traditional SBC. I haven’t done a LS swap only a LT swap so I’m just throwing some ideas out there. I’m personally not a big fan of the factory diesel engine insulators so I created a new mount design.

thank you! I saw a conversion with the LS/SBC adapter plate and even though it got the job done I wasn’t a fan. Even though I didn’t want to pay stupid money I went ahead and got the ones from Mountain Machine on order. Their design looked good and clean. I love what the guys from Grind Hard Plumbing did on YouTube with the Corvetter style isolator.

now I gotta figure out headers. Id like to use most of the stock exhaust as possible.

It's all been a challenge. I'm working on three years but it's almost done. Literally can spend 5 hours researching one fitting you need like I did today. I have a build thread on here that might help. Several others are doing it too and there's some stuff on Youtube but most of the time the creators don't talk enough about what they do. Grind Hard Plumbing for example, they never give specifics and they never answer questions in the comments. Very frustrating but there's a lot like them .

I couldnt agree more!! The comments in the videos are great questions and I always look for them. Although never answered! Seems like it would be as easy as a direct bold up with an LS fitted with a stand alone EFI and your in. LOL in a perfect world. Do you recommend a rebuild on the 6.5 Turbo or LS ?

During you swap. what seemed to cause the most headache? Any advice making my process more smooth?
I’m still working on mine, I’d say it would be smoother if I had buckets of money.

All that aside, its interesting to me the guys that have done these in the 998s, seems like they are able to get the engine a bit more forward, which is a huge plus if using a mechanical fan like I am. Despite using the Chevy Colorado fan clutch, which moves the fan closer to the radiator by about an inch or so, its still not close enough. I've got to make a shroud extension. BTW Im swapping into a m1123 and using Mountain Machine Mounts and the 4l80 that was in the m1123. It's not a bad project, probably the easiest truck to LS swap for a first timer. I'm using an aluminum radiator so I can put the top radiator hose mount on the other side. If you had my notes and the radiator hose swap done Im positive you could do this in a 3 day weekend.
