M1008 U-joint ?

Does anyone know if there were different revs of U-joints for the M1008? The one I have doesn't appear to have any way to grease it, and I am afraid it is on its last legs. I would like to replace it with one that is greasable. Can anyone give me a part number or source for one.

there the same for the civy truck, just go to the local auto parts and get them.

The heavy duty u-joints do not have grease fttings. When they drill the housing for grease fitting it makes the joints weaker.

Ok, I am assuming I have the heavy duty ones.

Does this mean that you are supposed to dissasemble them to grease them, Or do you just wait until they fail and then replace.

I am not sure yet if they are loose, but I think so.

Time to crawl under and shake some things.

you leave then till they take a load. I have always used the greasable ones and not had a problem. last a lot longer then the sealed ones.

u joints on the axles or drive shaft ? the TM has a section of what to lube on the chassi

autozone has the ones with zerk fittings

Take one of the old ones out and take it with you for a match. Napa, carquest, etc., should be able to help you. And do get the ones with zerk fittings, they last ALOT longer...
