M1009 Forward Motor Mount P/N

Did a search and for and found one thread from 2007 for the question.

The front motor mounts for a M1009 CUCV are different than a civilian K5 Blazer with a gas or diesel.
The NAPA number is 602-1251 for the civlian truck and the CUCV (Chevy number is 459021) but the bolt pattern for the three mounting bolts to the frame ears are slightly smaller than the patttern for the NAPA mount which they say fit both engine types. More specifically the bolt circle is smaller even though the bolts are the same size diamter and length.
If you install the civilian motor mount using the two lower bolts, the upper bolt will not fit and is about 2/3 bolt diamter off. The NAPA mount is slightly too long.
Does anyone have a NAPA or other brand part number for the M1009 forward motor mounts? They said that right and left are the same number.

On a side note, I beleive the rear mounts are the same as the 83 & 84 civy unit.

I was able to contact an old NAPA store and they swear that the CUCV / GM p/n crosses to one of their's so I am off to go pick it up.
I will post the results after lunch (central time) when I return home.

Use the GM part number from the Technical Manual, do not go with what is spec'd for the year/model.

Photo below shows the year/model mount (on the left) next to the correct mount, note the size difference.

O.K., I returned from NAPA and the 1983 1/2 ton truck with a 350 gas engine mount is exactly correct. NAPA p/n 6021179 fits just like it should, or at least for the M1009 truck.

They did cross the number GM p/n 459021 from the CUCV -34P TM and it matches perfectly in case anyone else needs it.
Left and right are the same p/n.

Curiously, the 1983 6.2 diesel mount and the 1983 350 gas mount are the same for a civilian truck but the 84 to 91 is different so they must have had all the CUCV trucks use the 1983 mount regardless of year.

The basic trucks came off of the same assembly lines as the civilian trucks, Same body, same frame, same engine block. I know throughout the years I always had problems with GM mounts not fitting for the years they were supposed to. In cars as well as trucks.

I have issues with my M1009. I went with the information that I read on the motor mounts for the M1009 CUCV being the same as a 1983 350 gas engine. Well they fit and the fuel line is close to the front cross member when you install them. I was out today and put about 100 miles on my truck.I did the same trip yesterday with no issues. I ran it very hard like I always do. I was pulling out at a stop light and the truck shut off. I coasted into a parking lot and had a small drip at the fuel pump. The engine was setting on the main feed line and had cut a small hole in the feed line. I crawled under removed the fuel line cut it off and reinstalled it until it was tight. A minister stopped and helped me bleed the filter and get going again. I went about 10 miles and it did it again. I was going into the hood out side of the city. No speaking the English. They just sat and ate french fries and fried chicken and chattered away watching me. I went under and cut the line again and went to start it no luck I had air in the system. I ask one of the onlookers to help turn the key or open the valve and they all walked away. I got it started and made it home. This issue started last week when I changed the motor mounts and the fuel pump. What is the correct motor mounts for this vehicle? I never had problems before I had lots of OEM parts. I am out of them now. I will cut a mount apart and use the bottom plate as a spacer if I have to. I need to get this vehicle running. It is my sons transportation from time to time and mine when I go out and cut wood , hunting and fishing. Any ideas?

so many of the off the shelf replacement mounts are india / china / oversea's JUNK these days . lots of guys over on anther site for just square body gm stuff have had huge problems with them failing real fast and dropping to the bottom of the clam shell and the engine drops down .

I have seen a few aftermarket built / sold beefy replacements . there great for hd off road stuff. but tad pricy for just a basic beater / dd use I think .

my self I just buy the energy suspension replacement mounts that replace the junk rubber in the clame shell and never look back . these full 98% of the clamb shell right full of mount material for super fit / no room to sag down . but still flex .

I just stripped a m-1008 truck frame down for a rebuild project . I ordered new energy suspension mounts aspr all the stuff I have read over the years on diesel / bbc got different mounts .

well I had to return them and get sbc mounts . good new tho autozone and some others stock the std gm size mount on the shelf from energy suspension .

They are not slipping in the clam shell. The engine was tight last week at the fuel line now it is sitting on it. I have no problem getting the energy suspension ones. Did you know they also make radiator support isolators to replace the crappy GM OEM rubber ones. The last OEM ones I bought from the dealer were made in China. 1 ounce of transmission fluid or oil on them OEM rubbers and they are wasted in a week.

I looked at it again and it is tight. The engine does sit lower then my other M1009 but I do not see why. They are the same 1983 350 gas motor mounts. I saw this information here on this site and it is what I put on. I may go with a spacer of just put 3 thick 3/8" spacers one under each hole between the frame and the mount. I think that will work. Any ideas? Or just call the GM dealer in the AM.

Once again I resolved the issue on my own. I pulled the motor mounts off an M1009 Frame that I had in one of the barns and put the 32 year old OEM ones on in place of the NAPA replacements. I don't think anyone is making good parts anymore. I changed 2 sets of motor mounts on the same truck in 1 week. WOW. First were Autozone. They were total junk. They lasted 2 days. Last Wednesday I put on a pair from NAPA. They lasted till yesterday afternoon and left me setting on the side of the road. The rubber does not fit in the bracket on the replacements as well as it does in the OEM ones. i did call the dealer they are still available at about $100. each. I was headed that way when the light bulb lit in my head. I have some that I have on a frame I am storing. I went and removed them from the frame and put them on.010.jpg015.jpg012.jpg011.jpgCheck out the clearance of the fuel line. In all the years I worked on these CUCV trucks I never even paid attention to fuel line clearance and motor mounts. This is turning out to be that hardest part of the task. Getting parts that fit and will last. I mean 2 sets of motor mounts and 4 fuel pumps in one week. I would have pulled the fuel pump off of one of my spare motors had I seen this coming. Ridiculous. I still think of the guy that is not as handy with the wrench and does not have the knowledge to get himself out of these situations. I see a $200.+ towing bill and a garage bill from the incident yesterday alone. Be careful when buying replacement parts. I never would have thought I would be doing all this work018.jpg just to stop a minor fuel leak at the pump. That little chaff in the fuel line shut me down. 020.jpg021.jpg022.jpg023.jpgThese are the junk they are selling these days. I guess the next move will be with the Energy Suspension mounts. My son has them on his truck and has the same clearance at the fuel line as I do now. I looked at 6 different trucks today. They are all close to the cross member at that point with the fuel line. Thank you for looking and be careful buying parts. These parts company's are buying junk and selling it to the poor unsuspecting do it your selfer mechanics.
