Heres what I have a3 axle under a a2 box. The HMMWV tires stick out past the fenders and so do the CUCV wheels (M1008) and tires but not as much. I'm wondering if 16.5" dually wheels will fit over the drum. I have tried 16 in dually wheels and they don't fit over the drum. The dually wheel would put the tire where it belongs if it will fit. Thanks

Fab up some fender flares, kinda like they did for the A3 bodies.
16.5's are only going to add 1/4 inch of potential clearance.
not sure if they make plain steel 17" dually rims.

Maybe I misunderstood

First of all I apologize for my newbness. I have a M101A2 trailer that I picked up the other day which is riding on the M101A3 axle, assuming because it has the drop axle and the wheels stick out about 4 inches on each side. This doesn't bother me that much, but if possible I wanted to find a rim that would bring them in at least a little bit, and I want to spend as little as possible. I absolutely love the fender flares that I've seen on this site, however I do not have access to a metal shop and they look expensive to have built. Also, the rims that are currently on my trailer are rust buckets.

Thoughts?

With a dually wheel you will have to worry about clearance on your springs a daully wheel is a dually wheel all are the same except for some of the older dodges and some of them had a deeper off set studs are same as a regular wheel . guess i will try one when i get to the shop tomorrow and see . Will post pics .

There is plenty of room on the A3 axles to clear the springs.

I have the same thing going on with my M101 trailer. I have a a2 box on an a3 frame and axel. I was just planing on cutting the fenders just back from where they roll the edg and adding in flat metal to make them like the a3 boxes are. But off set duely wheels now thats a thought. Please post some pics when done.
