Hello!
Does someone tried to move the air dryer inside the frame? Need the place for a second fuel tank...
Or any other idea where put it?
Thanks a lot and regards from Italy?

I've modified the exhaust on my truck, and have moved the air dryer inside the frame rail, where the previous heat shield for the exhaust was.

Most air lines fit without any new ones needed. Haven't installed the new dryer yet because I'm too lazy to drive down and get it where it's being stored, but mounts etc are good to go.

Hello Givinup!
That sounds great! I will check it, get my M1078 only in march/april, still in planing mode...

Thanks!

I'll post pictures when I finish it.

For a second tank, check out the design of excap. De and their steyr. I love that design for tanks.

Thank you! Yes they are great but not really cheap
Yeah based on the look I can't imagine they are. There are some custom tank manufacturers here that can fabricate tanks and you give them the dimensions. I may go that route. If I do I'll share who I use, price, etc

I'm about to start this, and I'm a little curious because it looks like each of the sets of install photos in this post show the universal bracket notched and used a different way. One person only gets 3 bolts in, another person had to add slots to one of the sets of holes, and it looks like all 3 might be using a different set of holes for the bolts.

Can it be installed with 4 bolts, without enlarging/slotting any of the holes in the brackets (but still cutting the notch in the corner)?

On a 6x6 you can usually get 4 bolts no notch. 4x4 3 bolts and the notch. Could vary between trucks though. Just what I have encountered in the past.

That's kind of funny, because we literally take the "universal" mounting plate, which doesn't fit, and then notch and slot it. What a waste.

Could always change the location, drill new holes in the frame, and use the bracket as is. Or build a bracket from scratch. I think of it rather as converting a universal part into a milspec one

If you look at the mounting plate style of the m939 abs air dryers. And the mounting bracket that comes with that style air dryer, with band clamp and bolt. Which is the previous generation to the mrap pur-est dryer. The haldex universal bracket is designed to mount up to the m939 style mounting plate.

The install on my truck was straightforward: for some reason I did not experience the difficulties described by others ;)View attachment 825438
I love watching your truck build. Wish I had room for an extra toy to make a rock crawler.

One thing I read on the dryer install instructions was that you need a minimum length of line between the compressor and a down slope to the dryer. This is to help keep air cooler and condensation running away from the compressor. I can’t tell what you have, but may be worth verifying.

Truck looks like a lot of fun.

Hi*,
I would also like to replace my old air dryer with a new one.
Does any of you know whether the air dryer "Haldex DA34200 Purest® Air Dryer with Econ" (https://www.haldex.com/globalassets/north-america/documents/air-dryers-_-air-line/l31170.pdf ) for the M1078A0 also works?
I ask because I can get this one for free from a friend. The DA34200 is for type E or QE compressors. I have a Midland compressor in the A0, model EL 1600, type piston-type, two-cylinder.
Don't know what type E means and whether my compressor is type E.

Thank you for your help and stay healthy,
Martin
