Well alrighty, I think we have identified the core issue here.
Apparently some of the motor pool guys were keeping goldfish in their shift controller

Apparently the LMTV’s needs these things to shift properly.

now the question is
Who has a Wtec 2 shift controller!?

Wish they had at least left the 50cal in to block some of the weather, would have come in handy as a conversation piece too…

It’s a bump in the road for sure but I would rather replace a controller than a transmission assembly any day

Ok update and problems solved.
First off I am extremely grateful for the community here and especially for RonMar and Mr. fuzzy among dozens of other knowledgeable individuals.
I got this pig pig back on the road and we’re off to the next adventure and see what else I can break next.

essentially it was a bad transmission controller…
Nothing a little time and a bunch of money couldn’t handle.
