Satchaser, did you ever get this sorted?
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
The truck is at a shop now. The mechanic, who seems knowledgeable, says that he has traced the problem to a Solenoid ($150). The part was on order last week and I am hoping to get it on the road again soon.Satchaser, did you ever get this sorted?
Thank you, but Appendix B of what?Huh? Have you personally witnessed below spec main hydraulic pressure on the “main” test port? Less than 218 psi? Refer to appendix B.
Be careful, some mechanics (if not most) debug problems by throwing parts at them until things work again. When a mechanic replaces more than one part to solve a problem I start watching very closely….. but then again, I don’t use mechanics anymore. After a very long while, and changing out all of the Solenoids, the mechanic reports that the front pump is not producing and needs to be replaced. A couple of questions to the community:
1) Does anyone know a good source for these parts (Front Pump Assembly -Complete + Stetter(??) )?
2) Does anyone know if these parts can be replaced without removing the entire transmission?
3) Does anyone know if, to remove the transmission, you need to remove the entire bed first?
4) Does anyone know a source for a new or rebuilt transmission?
Thank you for the help.
See post 2Thank you, but Appendix B of what?
Thanks, I see appendix B now. I will print and take over to the mechanic to observe. He just quoted me ~$12k for a rebuilt transmission and $8k installation. I do not think he is dishonest, I think he just may not have the specific experience.See post 2
the Wtec 2 troubleshooting manual, look back in the thread I think NDT linked it.Thank you, but Appendix B of what?
you're getting screwed...my rebuilt tranny with 1 year parts warranty from MTP in Louisiana is $10.512 delivered to Daytona.. $2k-$3k for installation by Daytona CAT/RingPowerThanks, I see appendix B now. I do not see putting $20k into this repair. Maybe I will convert it to electric, which will probably only cost me $80k!

These prices should tell you he wants the truck gone. Swapping the transmission is a 2 day job, say 16 hours at what $150 an hour shop rate? $2400 labor. Thanks, I see appendix B now.
