Note! Edited now recovered

Hi,
Just in case anyone finds an unusually cheap soft top M1165 with no title, I just had mine stolen from a repair shop in Scottsdale, AZ. It is woodland camo, no doors, no headlights, no taillights, USMC markings on tailgate
Let me know if you see anything.

A lot of shops say they are not responsible for thefts that occur on the premises. I don't believe that is accurate. Talk to a lawyer.
They aren't responsible for items located in the vehicle generally. But if it's snatched off their lot their insurance is involved period and they are liable usually they will pay the deductible on a comprehensive claim but since it had no insurance they should be on the hook for it all.

That is the entire reason for insurance, he should have no problem making a claim. Suggest you provide more pictures (from GP listing?) and provide the entire VIN and body number if you have it.

6.5td, overdrive. I have some special ways to identify, very unique problems/parts that I have closeup details on.

No cameras in the area? Shops, stores , ect. Probably had to tow it or was it running? Seems like you should be able to get some idea of what exactly happened and what they were driving.
I was told by my insurance they would cover it and when it came down to it they said they wouldn’t do full coverage. I was nervous while finding other coverage. I installed a fuel cut off switch and I locked the steering wheel and removed the battery cable. It won’t stop anyone but it would definitely slow them down. I hope you can recover it but it’s probably in Mexico already. People are such lowlifes. I wouldn’t feel bad about turning into friends insurance because if it was another customer they wouldn’t feel bad. Your friend probably feels bad you are out for the whole amount and not just his deductible. Pay his deductible and turn it in.

The HMMWV community is kinda tight. Someone will try to flip this. Highly doubt it's in Mexico. GP item 4271593. Most distinguishing thing about this truck is it's been used hard by USMC. Lots of wear and tear on the paint.

Keep an eye on Craigslist and Ebay. I bet the body parts will start to show up there, especially parts like the tail gate.

If it runs and drives and was in this neck of the woods then you would find it in a mud hole somewhere. Out there, probably the desert, maybe the mountains around Payson

Thanks for all the support guys!
Working on video. Looks like an rv with a trailer.
Literally doing the leg work ourselves, only thing we could do with LEO was file a report over the phone. (My dad was a cop, not a slam on them, but it is too bad they don't at least physically come out anymore )
It did run but not well. We were getting closer with it.

I agree, it's not in Mexico. Can't send across border. But I don't think I will be seeing it driving around.

A lot of good points. I own a shop and also a cop. Get a (hard copy) of the police report demand one gets made. Its necessary for later especially if found out of state it needs to be in the system. The shop is liable for things under there care custody and control. I have friends with stuff at my shop and if there stuff was stole i would have no problem filing a claim. In most states you cant have a business without ins. Don't feel bad about a claim i have had almost non and its still expensive. Keep on the cameras. we solve many cases with camera coverage from other locations not were it happened. The time it happened is key to reduce research time and another key thing is the recorder rewrite time is usually less than 30 days some places its a week, you need to get right on places near that location that have security. Homes are great to most owners with ring get some much stuff for us its un real. The unfortunate truth is law enforcement is pressed today and spread thin so do your homework. If you know anyone in LE have him work with you on the side to go to the places asking for video etc it goes a long way in getting what you need. I hope this helps. Time to get busy. Good Luck

How much did the cop cost? I have always wanted one.
