Hi all,
have an m35 and having an issue steering it. here is what is happening.

ok sitting in drivers seat steering wheel and tires turn all the way to the left and they will turn back right untill I get to were the wheels are in the straight posuition with the truck and they will not go past this point and will not urn right past the straight position of the truck. Now I just bought the truck and when I unloaded it this is the way it was SO the question is.. were do I look? as it had to have been working when they loaded it? should I take the steering gears off?

any ideas on which TM I can get to have a view of this and how to do it?

thanks for any help.

sounds like the steering box or something binding underneath, maybe some foreign object? There was an article in a previous MV or ARMY MORTORS that detailed how to get the box out without moving the engine. It's not a good situation.

Where (relative position, straight up and down?) is your pitman arm when your wheels are pointed straight ahead? Has your pitman arm been removed recently? You mention unloading it? Was there damage done to the steering linkage in transport (ie chains wrapped around the linkages and bent them)?

I would think also I should be able to take pitman arm off and see if it has been installed wronng and not put back on in the right slot? would that make sence?

I checked and the paint is off of the bolts that hold on the steering unit to the pitman arm I think I may have found the issue the pitman arm I think is just not put back in the correct slot...going to try that will reply back if it was or if it wasn't.

Check the pitman arm in relation to the steering box shaft. There is a mark on each and should be lined up. Possibly someone had the arm off and someone turned the wheel drastically before it got reattached. My truck pitman arm was off 1/8 of a turn when I first got my truck.
