M35 to M34(hub flip, single 11-20's)

Finally got the deuce singled with 11-20 NDCC tires. Used a set of rims from the GMC M135 deuce and half.

Had the rims shot blasted, then painted with primer and auto paint. I took the paint code to a local paint shop. They were able to use it, but the only in their expensive line. When the paint was custom mixed in a cheaper paint, it came out a little too dark, and too glossy. Didn't use enough flattener in the paint I guess. This is my first time painting auto paint.

I just noticed the two of the rims are slightly different. They have a more closed hole in the rim face, matches the regular deuce rims. The other 4 rims have a more open hole. Maybe some are M34 rims, and some are M135 rims? They are all stamped 1952.

Had to flip the hubs. Talk about sore, I hammered all 24 studs in and out. Only took a hour with the hubs off. Tried to use an impact to reinstall the studs, was taking too long. Overall about 16 hours for the hub flip, removing tires from rim, and installing everything.

So I am able to cruise 60 mph. YEA! Now if the .71 overdrive gearsets come out, I will be set. Easier to turn, lot less work to get the tires on and off, and less tires to replace.

I may get a M135/M34 Bed for the truck to complete the look.

looks good man. I have a m135/34 bed for mine and I cant wait to get it on. On the rims.. I just got 14 5 ton rims and 4 fo them have smaller studs (combat wheels) other then that all the same size. Im sure there are a couple different supplyers of rims.

Won't know about the extra rims for a while. I need at least one of them.

Went to work today, got sent home at 11:00. I'm just a lowly worker....If I get back to work in the next 2 days, I will try for GA.

Hi, I'm UK based so don't have your 'cultural knowledge' or spares avilability. I'd like to do this conversion to my M35/A2. Fliping the hubs is no problem.
So I need to know;

1. What's the problem with the standard rims on the M35/A2 presumably they track incorrectly.

2. Would an 1100x20 fit the standard M35/A2 rim

The rim used on the M135/M34 has a different offset than those on the M35/M211. Yes, an 11.00-20 will fit on the M35 rim.

You can use the standard rims with no problem. The M135/M34 rims have a different offset but either will work. Both rims are the same width and can mount 11.00 20 tires.

I just finished flipping mine and should be able to change over the wheels/tires in the next day or so. I only have six of the rims and I am contemplating mounting an 1100 20 on a m35 wheel for the spare.

Dave, nothings wrong with the standard rim. The 135 rims have an offset for a wider track width. Yes 1100x20s fit.

So next question.

Using pye r squared how high is a 1100 compared to a 900 so I can work out the additional ground covered with each turn of the wheel.
I bet somebody has already done this!

OK back in from the garden, my M54 on 1400s stands at 127cm tall , my M35 on 900s stands 97 so my guess would be 1100s to stand about 107cm tall,

so 900s rolling diameter 2.95m
1100s = 3.59m so an overgearing of about 20%,

hence at 50mph using a conversion 1.2 gives 60mph

Does that work out about right?

In theory an 900 20 tire should have a diameter of 38”and a circumference of 119.32”. 1100 20 tires should have a diameter of 42” and a circumference of 131.88” ( roughly 110% of the 900 20),so 50mph would turn into 55mph.

The operator's manual gives this info - in the form of the performance specs of a M34 as well as illustrations of the data plates.

My M35a2 runs on 1200x20 great steering NICE cruise speed..(not excessive! just better R.P.M.s!) dave if you look at deks pics in photo gallery you will see my conversion AND a modification to track ALL the wheels in line. better looks and stance! if you want a set of 1200x20 ruski wheels and tyres let me know..they look impressive and go st8 on!...in fact...
