memphis right now is selling front straight take outs for $900 & rear take outs for $600 each....

we sell complete redone with all new bearings & such for the axles $1300 fronts & 750 rears.. & they are the u-joint style.. if hes interested in getting some.. we are located in northern alabama..

also the tag is not always correct.. best way to find out is to just get greasy & reach in & feel the joint...

The guy was suppose to call me Fri to set up a time over the weekend to look at the axles, but I didn't hear from him. He may be looking elsewhere. I will be sure to pass on the prices if he does call back.

Thanks for all of the input.

I have a shaved, disked rear I'd take $350 for these days... just trying to make it move. Disks are 1 ton Ford, and shave job is my own.

Could it be that the GMC are stronger due to the spline count, 27 as opposed to 10? I've recently found off the shelf lockout hubs, Detroit no-spins lockers and disc brakes for these. There is a write-up on making the CCKW, M211 transfer-case a 3-speed Low-Direct-OD unit as well so if his truck would have a divorced case already he would just have to fab mounts. Another plus is the higher ratio of the GMC's. It makes it easier on the road. My Tulsa was used for over 30 years in Michigan turning AWD axles with flotation tires and a crane hauling logs. GRVW over 36,000lbs. I think the truck has something like 120,000 miles but I will say the pinion has to be tightened to spec, as mine has loosened. A takeout chunk is $100.00 swap it and go.

Just my .02
