I kind of shot from the hip and won M50 tanker off of GSA today. Upon further inspection of the pics it may be a parts truck. Does anybody know what these tanks were made of? I did a search and some people say aluminum and others say stainless.

For the price I got it for I'm ok with it being a parts truck but would feel a little better if the tank is stainless (scrap$$).

I don't see a stack in the pics but the description says "diesel". The description also says it's a 1979 model but the headlights are in the lower position so I doubt that.

GSA and I may have a problem if it turns out to be a gasser.

Hard to tell from the pics but it does look like it has the multi grill and side panels to me.

You had to be expecting it!. I believe its a multi. Also either way on the tank. Aluminum or stainless it will still bring some $$ more than what ya had.

I think the M50s are the same but in M49 tankers, they are either mild steel or stainless and if that one was a fuel truck, it'd be mild steel. The early trucks have cut out wheel wells for the rear bogie and are mild steel. The later trucks, M49A2C, are stainless and have straight bed sides.

One reason for no stack is that there is a exhaust DIVERTER to run the exhaust to heat the tank for COLD weather use

I see a BA BBQ mobile bbq grille that could be ready by the 2012 Ga Rally - now to find several more hogs to cook besides rectums from WM.

What a shame to scrap that nice tank. Hope it finds a home.
No plans to scrap it just yet. It just depends on how much the FD butchered it. I talked to a guy today that saw the truck and says the pump has been removed and a hole is cut into the back of the tank to dump into a dump tank like FD use. I can weld AL easy enough so the hole shouldn't be too hard to patch. I just hope when they removed the pump they left the t-case PTO.
