I am moving along on my M543 wrecker restoration. I am getting all new data plates re-made. The data plate I'm pointing to in the picture is so faded i can't make it out. Can someone help me out?

I found 2 pictures in the M39 (9-2320-211) series manuals. Neither shows the text.

I did notice that the M543 and the M246 are different(as is my M819).

I could not find the data plates in any TMs.

My 816 had one there but had nothing on it. So I guess were both up the creek. I looked in the TM for the M62 saw photo that had four screws no plate.

I think that data plate had the wrecker body serial number and date of man. stamped into it.
Regards, Bob
I think you are onto something. The data plate is faded but there is stamping on it. There is an "A2". Below this is "2 65". I was guessing M543"A2" and I know it's a 1965 truck so the "65" also makes sense. I'll await others findings.

BTW, thanks doghead for checking on your truck earlier today. It was nice meeting you on the phone. :-D

Sounds like they are pretty scarce, so when you find out, maybe there will be a small demand for replacements.
Will check my 816 later to see if I need one too.
Thanks.

No one place has them all. I got most from TNJ Murray two years ago. There are a few I still need, thats how hard they are to find.
