M923 doghouse R/R

How much difficulty is removing and replacing the doghouse in a non-winch M923? Thanks for your experiences.

Ha, It is a pain. No fun at all. I just cut an access door in mine when I did my dual fuel line kit. Put a piece of painted plywood over it. sprayed sealing foam under it and mounted accessories to it.

I was afraid of that.....I'm just replacing the doghouse as it was kicked to death by some private in its prior life

I'm trying to get through the insulated cover over the doghouse just to get to the bolts. What is the seceret to that?

Let me know if you find a secret. Just started, but scratching my head at the ones on the top. Haven't opened the hood to see if "Cut the captive bolts off" is a viable approach.

You can get it out with out cutting anything a ratchet and correct extension and time u will get it out.

What's slowing me down is that the top bolts are all under a layer of insulation from the firewall. I can't even see a bolt head unless I somehow cut some insulation back. But access...

It is difficult but i was able to lift insulation up and get socket and extension on the bolt.

Well, pictures...

Here's what I'm dealing with so far. Pulled up the floor mat to find that water had puddled and held under it.


So once the doghouse is all out, I'm likely gonna pull the drivers seat and replace a decent chunk of floor plate. Or just weld new on top. We'll see.
