Kevin..
you've got a 6CTA cummins with an inline p-pump, right? if you do, lots of power is a few simple hand tools away.... it's the same as getting power out of a 6bta.

got a pyro?

here's a few threads that go over the basics:

start with the cummins newbie thread for a basic run-down of what will be discussed (some of the links in this thread do not match up any longer),
then move on to the free-mods thread to get a better understanding of upping the fuel.
next, move on to the AFC tuning thread; this is where the experimentation will pay off between tweaking and driving the readjusting.
and for reference, check out the useful diagrams, especially the cut-aways of the pump.

That is an awesome looking truck... I laughed my head off at the first pic where you almost had to tip toe to reach the handle... if there was ever a "Is it big enough question" I think it just got answered.

You also saved me alot of hassle because I an doing the same thing and was going to flip my rear hubs to all the nuts on the wheels would be pointing out, I like the way yours looks so much, I"m leaving them now.

So thanks for that.

I think you want to rethink mounting the rears on top of the budd studs. not a good idea. you just want to use front nuts on the rear.

From what I've seen everyone else thinks different because they aren't long enough on the hemitt wheels. I just mounted my fronts today and had to use them.

Im no expert by any means, but I believe only the A2's had the CTA motor, which is similar to the 5.9L B series. Displacing 8.3L and having a mechanical injection pump, it is good for many hundreds of HP and several thousand pound feet of torque with the proper mods, so just decide how much power you want.

If you have the NHC 250 engine, it is an 855 cubic inch monster that weighs almost twice what the CTA motor weighs. It can also be turned up, I just cant tell you anything about how to do it or what kind of power it will hold, etc.

Both trucks are said to have the same transmission, but I believe the motors are very largely detuned as I am only seeing torque numbers in the 600-700 foot pound range. A very slightly modified CTA motor should be good for 350-400hp and 1000-1300 foot pounds of torque.

That should scoot you right on down the road.
