I am not disputing the fact that GL screwed up but I believe they did offer his money back. I am not trying to make him out to be the bad guy, I am trying to stay neutral. If he had previewed the truck and this came about then he would have grounds for reimbursement for travel but since he did not preview then he really never saw the vehicle. It does exist, just not what he expected. This probably would have been discovered in a preview. I agree that a preview is not feasible for some due to distance or other reasons but these are the chances you take in this game if you do not. Just like transport, be prepared for the worst. He posted earlier in this thread that the truck in question was marked incorrectly by the GL representative. As in the truck he marked was not ever available for sale in the first place. It was there only temporarily or something, and got marked and photographed by mistake, and then was removed from the lot probably before the auction even happened by whatever people brought it there.
I hope we can stop trying to make the OP here out to be the bad guy in this case. He had every reason to believe he was bidding on a truck that existed, and GL screwed up big time, and this poor guy got hosed big time. It's not his fault!
