Thanks for helping me.
Bikeman is gonna help me with recovery from base to his storage -thank you Sir, and I tried U-Ship ,right now is 6000 $ for hauling and probably its gonna work for me. I was thinking to drive by myself because when I used Gov Planet website for shipping estimate the lowest offer been 11500$.
Right now I need to wait for SF97 I called GP a and they told me 3 weeks ,on another side they told me that I have 8 business days to pickup to avoid late fee ?????

SF97 generally comes after pickup, not before. No need to wait for that to pick up....

GPs storage fees are generally charged by their subcontractors directly. My experience has been that you show up with your release and prior to load out you pay the subcontractor directly.

Running bob-tailed, minimum, you will need a CDL Class B with NO air brake restriction and a medical card to operate legally in CA. A non-commercial Class B WILL NOT cover you.

My buddy just bought two trucks here in Alabama and GP put a lot of pressure on him to use their shipper. There seems to be a lot of confusion about were the trucks are physically located (you can't preview them). Looking at the pictures I'd say they are near the National Guard complex in Montgomery. They told him if he picked them up in person he would have to pay the city sales tax there but if he had them hauled out (presumably by their carrier) he would not have to pay it. Seems strange to me.
I've heard good things and bad things about uship.....lots of brokers out there trying to get a cut and leaving people in the lurch when pickup time comes around.
We have a member on here that is a dispatcher for Landstar. He never failed me when we were shipping trucks out of Florida a few years ago. You get what you pay for with shipping like you do with everything else. If you want his contact info PM me.
Bikeman....post pics of the recovery.....while I wouldn't want one for a daily driver I do like the tractor version of the HEMMT.

wrecker, interesting about the tax, haven't heard of that here. This tractor is on the "main" DLA/GP lot on Bragg. Never had any issues driving off yet. And Yes, I'll take some pics and video (as allowed) of this recovery.

Tax laws vary by state. Some tax at point of delivery, some at point of destination.

In WA vehicles are taxed at the location the buyer registers them at, goods are taxed at the point of sale (if in person) or at the point of delivery (if shipped), so having to pay an additional tax if picked up isn't crazy.

(My house was purchased in an odd tax void where the sales tax is ~2% lower than all surrounding areas, so I've become decently versed on how it works here.)

Thanks MyothersanM1, many states allow a learners permit so the person can drive with a licensed Class A, B driver. It would be helpful for Toudi to have this so on the long stretches of open freeway he could help out with the long drive, and get some time behind the wheel. He would just need to take all the written tests to get the permit.

I know California is different on many licensing requirements. I was not sure about CA statuates, but most states a "Non-Commercial" would be acceptable, since it is a privately owned vehicle, and he is running as a non-commercial. The only difference between a commercial, and non-commercial for others to know about is that you do not have a medical card, and you cannot run commercial loads. CA may have some additional rules behind non-commercial. Maybe MyothersanM1 could expand on that if possible.

I paid NC sales tax. Justin from GP explained it like this. If it's being shipped you take possession in your state, proven by a drop invoice. If you come to get it yourself you are taking possession of the vehicle in NC and you need to pay the tax. Regardless of the fact your taking it to be registered in another state.
(In Maine) when you register your vehicle in your home state there is a line for State sales tax paid elsewhere. The lady at my town office said Maine will go after NC for thier tax money. Maine can't charge me again for more tax unless the percentage was less then Maine's sales tax. I paid 2% more then I would have in Maine, but I needed to pay GP and didn't have shipping figured out yet.
I figured why bother filling out the tax exemption form and rush my shipping discussion just to save 2% on sales tax. Let Maine and North Carolina fight it out. (I have better things to do) LOL

Truck arrived yesterday. I would like to officially thank you Bikeman for his involvement and great help in recovering this truck and delivering it to CA. The truck came in very good condition. The only problem that I've noticed is with third axle, it's oil is leaking on the drum brake (broken seal). I've looked on the maintenance manual and I've found that part on the drawing but there is no info what is this part number or size. Do you have any suggestion for me? Thank you

No just used the trailer ramps and driving fast -), You prepared the truck really good, engine started from the first crank .I was thinking that I have to spend at least 30 min to started, what a surprise. Thank you
