Oh trust me I am. LOL Mostly will be done by me if at all possible. I would have tought he would have done a simple Google search

I do appreciate all the feed back and advice. First thing first. I feel based on my research I am already getting a fair deal and price has been negotiated. So we are clear on what is what on the purchase it is an 1988 (Motor Pool rebuilt in 2000) speedo showing 17k which I tend to think is correct but who really knows. I am thinking it was probably a National Guard Unit. It is an overall very clean soft top 4 man (with cargo cover) unmolested and all original. Only negatives that stand out is no doors, and brake issue that I have mentioned. No on road state title (has SF97) but NC is pretty easy to get one.

We negotiated it to $12k so I highly doubt he is going to take $7k for it. If you know of clean examples with some minor brake issues for less than $12k give me a PM.
you asked for right here…it’s the internet.

Again, I never asked for an "appraisal" value, or if I was getting a good deal. I was responding to him giving his input on what he thought the value was. If I wanted an appraisal I would have put it in a separate thread not in my thread asking about brakes.

Actually I NEVER asked that question. People decided to chime in and give their advice. LOL
In my case I read the thread because I was interested in the Brake problem and fix based on your question. I read many of the threads about problems so I can learn more about my truck, what to look for, what fixes it etc. It wasn't until I read you mention that you haven't bought the truck yet and then posted pictures of it that I chimed in. You seem to be a "newbee" to HMMWV's, just a guess. Grocery stores number one source of income is Impulse Buyers. On the surface all HMMWV 's look pretty much the same and that is exactly what I thought when I was looking. I now know a lot more about them and realize there are huge differences even with ones that look identical. Lots of changes and improvements over the years. The 1980's being the very beginning they tend to be the most lacking also. I think many people tend to see only what's in front of them sometimes and make impulse decisions. Even then I wasn't going to chime in because it's not that bad of a price overall but then you mentioned "flipping" it.

Whether you asked for the advice or appraisals or not is irrelevant because many of us come here to help our fellow enthusiasts. I think everyone that commented did so in an effort to help, not to mock or make fun of. After you buy it, our comments are meaningless. Keep in mind probably more than a few of us have already been there and did that and learned from our experiences.

I appreciate all advice given. Thanks
