The annual Medal of Honor Weekend Parade in Gainesville, Texas, will be on April 14, 2012.

More than 20 Medal of Honor recipients will be in attendance.

You can join Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 920 in honoring and carrying these heroes in the parade.

We will meet once more around 6:30 am in Denton to convoy north to Gainesville and the parade.

Our escort will include the Sheriff of Denton County and four squad cars on the route.

Normally we have a Huey flying over head cover the entire route.

Families are encouraged to make the convoy and parade, we are diverse to say the least.

I anticipate the National Guard will again bring several vehicles from Saginaw and join the convoy just north of Denton. The Cavinaugh Flight Museum will hopefully participate again this year.

On Friday, before the parade, there will be a dinner at the North Central Texas College honoring the recipients. Tickets are available.

I confess it is very difficult to talk to a person wearing the Medal of Honor. A thrill, but still almost overwhelming to me.

Join with us if you can.

Just a bump to remind everyone of the coming event on April 14.

I have been told a total of 20 recipients are coming this year.

The oldest, John Finn, passed this year. Mr. Finn had been a regular attendee for several years.

OK, final bump. We have about 25 vehicles committed for the convoy from Denton. We will have four Sheriff's Department squad cars escorting us the 30 miles. The Huey is ready to fly top cover again.

The M113 ACAV arrives on Friday afternoon. It will be in the convoy, trucked, to Gainesville.

We will be forming up from 9:00 am at the stadium off I-35. If you cannot join the convoy, meet us there.

Boots.....Just finished working on the M38A1 jeep and M35A2C deuce. Hopefully all issues now fixed...that just leaves the trailer to be worked on tomorrow and Friday! Hope to see you in Denton Saturday morning. Will be trailering jeep behind deuce. Also bringing Bell OH-13 "M.A.S.H." helicopter, which should be flying overhead during the parade. DUKW is not available this year as it is already booked for another event along with the M151A2 jeep. Last year Sherman tank had track problems. This year its electrics (starter motor circuit).....so my apologies..no DUKW or tank. See you at the "Entry Door", hopefully by 6:30am. Needle (aka Julian, Cavanaugh Flight Museum)

Gentlemen,

My apologies all the way around. We've had out of town company this past few days. So I was aware but completely tied up with 'things'. PLUS the club meeting, which went well. We are attempting to line stuff up with a little more 'lead' time.

From what I've read here, it will occur next year. SO, we just keep it on the calendar as a must attend next year.

AGAIN, my apologies. Looking forward to NEXT year when things are a bit more normal.

The gathering of the participants in the early morning. I will post pics of the parade in the next couple of days as they come in from the Vietnam Veterans post photographer. I was much too busy all morning to gather more pics.

I have only one pic of my new M931 but it is a nice truck.
