1. The center bolt in the oil filter assembly is hollow and appears to have a check valve in it. Whats the purpose of this valve.

2. I changed the oil in my generator with a Baldwin P80 and then with FRAM CH6PL. With each filter when I start the generator the oil pressure goes to 60 lbs and oil floods out of the oil filter top edge, not the center blot hole. Any idea what's causing the leak?

3. I've owned and used this generator as a backup when the power grid fails for about 7 years with limited use.

4. When searched for a FRAM CH6PL oil filter, my search found two CH6PL filters. One was s CH6PL and the other was CH6PL Full Flow filter. The Full Flow filter was 3/4" taller than the CH6PL. Can either filter be used?

Is the oil leaking from where the lid meets the canister body? Did you replace the gasket and does it seem like it stayed in place properly?
Sometimes the gasket will move out of place before you get the lid in place. I've seen people use a little gasket sealer to glue the gasket in place before installing the lid.

It is leaking where the lid meets the canister. I replace the lid gaskets when I replaced the filter.
I will change the filter again put gasket sealer on the lid gasket and try it again.

Whats the purpose of the check valve in the hollow oil filter center bolt?

Placing two gaskets under the filter cap stopped the leak.
