I just acquired a 30kw MEP-005B generator and was looking for the process to convert it to single phase. I searched here and on Google and was able to find conversions for MEP-005A but not MEP-005B. Is there any difference in the conversion of the MEP-005A and MEP-005B?

What is a b model? Is that the quite kit added or it is the 400Hz model?

Are you sure its a MEP-005, 30kw....or is it a MEP-805B, 30kw?

What is the NSN on the data plate?

I willing to bet you that it's a 400Hz. If so It's good for nothing other than running lights. Or if you are planning to run a radar station, it would work great. But to answer your question it conversion would be the same as the Mep-005a

I think the sequence started with the MEP-005, then newer ones became the MEP-805A followed by the MEP-805B. I'm not certain if the wiring is identical between the A & B models and you would want to be certain before you changed things around.

The 400hz models are MEP-815A & B

Simply look at the data plate. This is obviously an:

MEP-005A, utility model, NSN, 6115-00-118-1240
MEP-104A, Precise model, NSN, 6115-00-118-1247
MEP-114A, 400hz model, NSN, 6115-00-118-1248

Yes it is encased in an ASK, (Acoustic Suppression Kit)

I can see at least 6 missing parts from the picture.

I think that is correct, no MEP-005B. I mixed it up with the 805B
