MEP 802a Will Not Start.

I've been working on a MEP 802a and I can't get it to crank from the S1 switch. The engine will crank from the Dead Start Switch. The fuel pump runs when S1 is in positions 3 and 4, preheater works in position 1, but it won't crank in the start position. I believe that S1-7 should be hot when starting but I'm not getting any electricity there while cranking. Anyone have a suggestion?

Is this a new to you machine ( from auction etc ) or something you've had running and not it won't start?
Can you post a picture of the inside of the control panel, showing all the "Relays" mounted in a row?

Also, you're measuring S1-7 right at the switch and nothing there when attempting to crank?
At first glance of the schematic, I think that would have to be a problem with the S1 switch itself, if you have power on S1-6 but nothing on S1-7 while cranking.

Yes. I am testing the S1-7 terminal while the switch is in the start position and I am getting no reading on my voltmeter.

This is a new (to me) machine. (It is a 1997 model.) This machine has very few hours on it, but was stripped for parts. I replaced several parts including the S1 switch because the original switch had been removed. Here is a Picture of the relays.

Can't see the switch part number so I can't tell if it's the right switch. Could be its missing molded black jumpers to connect terminals 2 to 4 to 6 to 8.
I'd suggest checking that S1 switching operation with the S1 Switch Schedule in the -24 TM.

I saw that info on the generator's side panel but I wasn't sure what 'common' meant. I'm not an electrician: though I have done a considerable amount of electrical work. The company claimed that it was the correct part. I posted a couple more photos below.

It seems to me that if I have power going into the S1 switch I should be getting power out, unless it's a defective switch. I believe that S1-7 is the terminal for the starter. Am I correct?

That's what I would do. BUT FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look into the control cube. I would even take the top off. Look real close in and under everything for the jumpers that were there before. I have found more than a few. Might even find a F1 fuse cap or two.
