Mep004a cb1 trip caused by injector pump solenoid

Let's try something that's going to sound a bit silly, take the voltage adjust knob and rotated it's full span back and forth several times then set it to the lowest setting

Scooby, I should have thought of that.
But no joy.
Swept it full range about 15 times, turned it all the way down, and same result.

Ok. So 1 of 2 things is happening, 1 it's reading in error and tripping or something is going wide open and sending the voltage high.

Set is up and running.
The chain of events is a little convoluted, but I will try to fill in the blanks for those who follow.
When this first started giving me cb1 troubles I began looking at a lot of things, one thing discovered was a discolored a-5 card in the special relay box.
I ordered a new one thinking it was my problem, when that and everything else I tried didn't fix it, I started this thread.
Today I decided to put the old a-5 back in and see what happened.
While I had the static exciter box out I decided to open it up and have a look.
Inside I found some rust/paint flakes that I had likely blown in there while cleaning the inside of the set.
Cleaned everything up and reconnected, started the unit, still showed 300 volts, but no fault indicated, and it stayed running.
Adjusted for 60 hz and started cranking the voltage adjust knob back and forth like I had tried earlier.
Within a couple of seconds she dropped to 200 ish volts and would adjust normally.

Guy, I was only going by the guage, the set wouldn't stay running long enough to grab a meter and test actual voltage.

Scooby, looks like it needed just a little more.

I know mistakes were made, feel free to school me If you would like.

glad it worked. do yourself a favor and buy a can of deoxit. apply a small amount to the resistor windings and sweep it again, this will clean and help protect it from oxidizing again.
