I keep bottled nitrogen in the shop just for that reason.I've had (2) 802 run away on me... boy is that unpleasant.
A CO2 fire extinguisher can work too

I've never tried to use nitrogen. How effective is it?I keep bottled nitrogen in the shop just for that reason.

Anything that completely displaces the O2 should be 100% effective.I've never tried to use nitrogen. How effective is it?
One of the many reasons that I keep at least one 15lb CO2 extinguisher handy when running a generator...
It stops combustion. So it works well. The reason I use it is I have an unreasonable number of tanks in my shop .I've never tried to use nitrogen. How effective is it?

Roger that. Also used on almost all aircraft these days after the 1996 TWA-800 crash.NASA uses it to pressurize fuel tanks. If they use it, its got to be effective.
I'll take my tang with alcoholRoger that. Also used on almost all aircraft these days after the 1996 TWA-800 crash.
As I wrote above, I just hadn't ever seen or heard of it used to shutdown engines before.
And if NASA uses it, it must be good. Right? Tang anyone?
All the best,
