mep803a voltage regulator schematic - anyone got one?

I have the general schematic and manual for the 803a. However I'm looking for the schematic for that "black box" voltage regulator (A1). I'm thinking that it just might be in some depot maintenance manual or perhaps someone has been able to reverse engineer one....

But...a schematic of one could allow someone with the proper skills to create one this saving some money. We we bought these generators used to save money

Well I don't believe one exists, it would have to be hand developed because its highly unlikely TRC would release such info. Kurt's unit is a money saver because when the stock one is produced with unobtanium in New condition, his becomes a pretty cheap buy if you need one.

Yes. I've got one in my own machine, not because my stock one failed, but because Its better.
+1 on this. Mine has @kloppk's regulator as well because it is better. It is based around a very very respected and bullet proof digital regulator design that is used across the power generation industry. Kurt has made it very simple to drop into an MEP by bringing out controls that are specific to MEP designs. It is a great product, and he provides a great service to the community.

My two cents is go buy @kloppk's version, and my other two cents is that if you know enough to repair the existing one, you probably shouldn't need a schematic, but I feel compelled to point out that the risk of messing up the VR repair is a blown generator head, which is pricey to repair or replace.

A long, long, time ago, the military found that not repairing items that were not big dollar items, was smarter than stocking thousands of parts. And training people to do the repairs. And stocking the test equipment. It still makes sense to me.

Fermont built the 803. As Guyfang and others have said, cheaper to throw away, and get a newer one that works. The schematic in another post looks similar to the tech drawing I have on file. OEM VRs were riveted. No repair authorized for field maintenance. Many have tried, and some have succeeded, some failed. Then they called Dave so the old guy could say request a new regulator. You should see the birds nest in the main gen created after some tried to be creative. $$$$ main gen time. We pushed a new regulator with a main gen all the time. Glad someone reversed engineered this one. OEM was expensive to change just before AMMPS Gens came in at over $450 AMDF price. 100% increase in price since 2000.
